October's dark days and but light podcasts!

Latest podcast season well under way.
Hello everyone,
The latest season of Michelle Ford Interviews is well and truly under way, and there’s already plenty to catch up on!
From Harriet Tyce to Bonnie Garmus, we’ve had conversations full of honesty, humour and fascinating insights. And for Menopause Awareness Month, I brought together four brilliant experts - Emma Bardwell, Jane James, Lavina Mehta MBE and Dr Linia Patel - for my Menopause Toolkit, covering nutrition, HRT, movement, weight gain/loss and those sometimes bewildering changes to our bodies.
If you’ve missed any of these conversations, you can catch up whenever it suits you on your favourite podcast platform.
I’m also still buzzing from Women Who Rise. What an evening of honest stories, music, laughter and connection! A huge thank you to my incredible guests Starling, B.A. Paris and Alexis Strum, our generous raffle donors, Sara Davison, patron of The DASH Charity, and Dame Kelly Holmes for helping make it so special. Thank you also to Emma Tindall of Tindall Productions (couldn't have done it without her!), Annie Lewis on social media and Sharron Goodyear capturing beautiful photography).
And to everyone who battled the appalling travel disruption to join us: I really appreciate your determination, warmth and support. You made that room feel wonderful. I’ll share some photos further down so we can relive a little of the magic.
Michelle xxx
PS. The Women Who Rise event will be a podcast episode all of it's own later in November so do watch out for it!
Would you be brave enough to look for love with the nation watching?
This week, I’m joined by Janey Smith, who found love with Roger Hawes on Davina McCall’s My Mum, Your Dad - and is now engaged to him! We talk about opening your heart after years of being single, rebuilding trust after heartbreak and making space for a new relationship while respecting the past. Janey also opens up about perimenopause and the unexpected knock it can give your confidence, even after decades performing as a singer. It’s a warm, wonderfully honest conversation, with so much to recognise whether you’re dating again or simply finding your feet in a new chapter.

A real highlight of October was interviewing Nadia Sawalha and Laura Dowling about ADHD in midlife at Pause Live. The audience was at full capacity and the atmosphere was extraordinary - women were laughing, crying and recognising themselves in stories that so often go untold. Their conversation received a standing ovation, and, as someone with ADHD myself, it was particularly moving to be part of it. I also had the pleasure of moderating the ADHD panel in the event’s new Neurodiversity space, chatting to Dr Helen Wall, Dr Sarah Jenkins, Adele Wimsett, Dr Kath Durkin and Dr Helen Read. These conversations can make such a difference: helping us understand ourselves, find support and realise we’re far from alone.

There’s more for book lovers on Brooklands Radio Book Club, every Thursday at 2pm, when I chat with authors about their latest books, the stories behind them and the characters who won’t leave them alone!
Coming up, I’ve got conversations with Donna Ashworth, Louise Candlish and Liane Child - plenty of inspiration for your next read.
Listen live on DAB, on mobile app, online or on your smart speaker (just tell Alexa to "play Brooklands Radio on TuneIn")
And if you fancy a shoutout, request or a special track WhatsApp the studio when I'm there between 1-4pm on Thursdays on 07383 474747 and I'd love to hear from you!
Next Tuesday, I’m joined by poet Donna Ashworth to talk about her beautiful new book, The Art of Being Easily Pleased.
Blending poetry and prose, affirmations, visualisations and her own illustrations, it’s an invitation to notice the little things that can bring us joy.
Our conversation explores the neuroscience behind practising gratitude, setting an intention each day and training our attention towards moments of pleasure and connection - or, as we discuss, tuning in to the right “vibrations and RAS" (you need to listen in for Donna's explanation because it's absolutely fascinating!).
I also went along to Donna’s event at Leicester Square Theatre, where she shared a fantastic conversation with Katy Hill. Hearing Donna read her poetry on stage was a real treat; her words have such warmth and power when she brings them to life.
There's still a few dates left on her tour if you'd like to see her live.
