Not all clickbait is created equal… especially when Dr Nighat Arif is involved! 😉

Currently helping us separate fact from fiction on the BBC’s Clickbait Clinic, I caught up with @drnighatarif to reflect on the end of Menopause Awareness Month and ask the question: how far have we actually come?

There’s plenty to celebrate. Conversations around women’s health, our bodies and anatomy that were once considered taboo are becoming much more mainstream. And perhaps one of the biggest achievements? Menopause is now on the curriculum for 15 and 16-year-olds, meaning the next generation will grow up with knowledge that many of us simply weren’t given.

We’re moving in the right direction, absolutely. But we still need to pick up the pace. There’s more to do when it comes to education, understanding, research and ensuring women get the support they deserve.

A really important perspective from Dr Nighat - and a reminder that menopause awareness shouldn’t be confined to just one month of the year.

Menopause, thinning lashes, brilliant women and a rogue false eyelash in my McDonald’s… 😂

I loved attending @uklash Reclaim the Growth, chaired by @lisa_snowdon for some much-needed conversations about midlife, menopause and the changes we experience as we get older.

The panel brought together @drnighatarif (who just simplifies everything medical so brilliantly), @feelgoodwithlavina (and naturally we squeezed in some exercise snacks!), Dr Hazel Wallace, aka @thefoodmedic , and trichologist @angela.onuoha to discuss the concerns so many of us have.

Although I would argue that making @janemhdg dash around London on public transport and climb escalators counts as exercise too! 😂

It was also brilliant to meet @helenaddismbe whose work raising awareness of breast cancer is extraordinary. 🙌🏻

And one of my favourite things about events like this? The lovely women you connect with along the way. Always a pleasure to catch up with women including @curvygirlliz @leahcotswolds @mrsmlmode and to meet @thefunnymummyuk (sorry about accosting you on the stairs!)

With Menopause Awareness Week shining a light on these issues, it’s wonderful to see these conversations continuing - but we need to keep talking, sharing experiences and supporting each other all year round.

On a personal note, one change I’ve found genuinely sad is seeing my lashes thin as I’ve got older. I’m always on the lookout for products that might help, and I’ve found that UKLash eyelash serum has definitely helped increase my lashes. The key, in my experience, is consistency.

And then there are the false lashes… 🤦‍♀️

I resorted to a pair the other night and I’m still trying to get the hang of them. To my absolute horror, one fell off onto my rather naughty late-night McDonald’s. For a split second, I thought it was a SPIDER. The whole thing nearly went up in the air! 🍟🕷️😂

Honestly, midlife keeps us humble.
